| Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back to your community. By volunteering with the Humane Society of Lewisville (HSL), you will be helping some very deserving cats and dogs get a second chance at a loving home. Along the way, you'll also meet new people, learn new skills, and have a lot of fun.
HSL Volunteer Needs
Fosters
We do not have a shelter. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Our biggest volunteer need is for loving foster homes. People often say they can't foster for fear of becoming too attached to the cat or dog. While you do love and care for your foster pet, the pure joy of seeing an animal find his new family is more than worth it. And knowing that you are saving an animal from death by euthanasia completely outweighs any sadness at parting with your foster. Please consider opening your home to homeless cats or dogs by becoming a foster. HSL provides all the food, toys, necessities and veterinary care. You would only need to provide your home and love.
Administrative
We do have an administrative office. There, we need volunteers that can come in and do filing or answer phones. Or perhaps you could help build shelves and storage areas or help organize the office.
Newsletter
We publish a quarterly newsletter for our members. We are in need of volunteers to write articles for the newsletter, design the layout, or coordinate the entire newsletter process.
Website
Do you have web skills? We are looking for a webmaster that can maintain the website and make a few minor tweaks here and there.
Volunteer Coordinator
We are looking for an outgoing person to be our volunteer coordinator. You would be in charge of welcoming new volunteers and scheduling volunteers for events.
Fundraising
Are you interested in raising funds to help the cats and dogs in your community? We would welcome an enthusiastic person to head up our fundraising efforts. Can you come up with creative ways to earn money? Do you enjoy a challenge? Then this volunteer opportunity is for you.
Grant Writing
We are in need of someone to pursue grants for our organization. Grant writing requires someone that is thorough, patient, and with an attention to detail.
If you are interested in any of the above volunteer opportunities, or if you have suggestions or ideas for volunteer opportunities that may benefit HSL, please fill out the form below and hit submit. Our volunteer coordinator will be in touch with you. Thank you! |
